October 1 marks the first day of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The goal of this health campaign is to raise awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure.
Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among American women. Each year in the United States, more than 250,000 women get breast cancer and 42,000 women die from the disease. Mammograms are key for early detection and can help fight against breast cancer.
