Nurses: The Most Ethical Professionals

, , , ,

Nurses have been ranked in a Gallup poll as the most ethical professionals for the 14th year in a row. According to Nurse.org, “more than 8 out of 10 Americans describe nurse ethics as ‘very high’ or ‘high’.” Nurses play an integral role in the U.S. healthcare system and are even considered more ethical and trustworthy than doctors.

Some may question how nurses are able to uphold such favorability with the American public, but the reasoning may be linked to the Code of Ethics for Nurses set forth by the American Nurses Association (ANA). As stated on NursingWorld.org, the ANA defines the code as the “definitive framework for ethical analysis and decision-making for RNs across all practice levels, roles, and settings.”

Nurses’ ethical standards are not only ranked high because of their care in health facilities but also because of their advocacy, volunteerism, and their voice in the boardrooms. They take great pride in caring for their patients and their overall health and rights in the long run. It’s a great honor to work with such highly-regarded professionals!
