Ways to Stay Energized at Work

, ,

It’s no secret that nurses walk approximately four to five miles in a 12-hour shift. Even though walking is great for your health, nurses should always make sure that they feel energized. Here are a few tips to help you stay energized at work:

  1. Drink lots of water – Dehydration may cause you to feel fatigued and tired. Drinking cold water will help you feel refreshed and hydrated. The recommended amount of water is eight, 8-ounce glasses/half a gallon a day.
  2. Eat regularly – Breakfast isn’t the only important meal of the day. Nurses (people) may become so busy at work that they either forget to eat or put eating aside. Food helps our bodies sustain energy, so it is vital that we eat well-balanced meals when we get hungry at work. Small snacks in between meals may also cut down on hunger and increase energy.
  3. Take a Break – Our jobs can get so hectic that we forget to actually remove ourselves from work and relax/catch a breath. Working non-stop for 8-12 hours straight is not healthy and can cause our bodies to burn out really quickly! Nurses may strive to always make their patients a priority, but you must first be in good health to be able to do so.

There are many other ways to stay energized at work…like thinking positively, laughing and so on. The most important thing is that we are in the best shape to care for those who need us.
